When was the last time you felt or expressed gratitude to someone or something in your life? In the busy-ness of daily life, we hardly take out time to pause, pay attention and praise, all that we are given. And by not doing so, we miss out on something that has potential to enhance our well-being, i.e., physical, mental, social and spiritual.

Having experienced the joy of gratitude in her life, Vibha is leading Global Gratitude Mission to share its power with many more. Listen to Vibha’s conversation with Luis Gallardo about her gratitude journey.

There is a growing body of evidence that shows impact of gratitude on holistic health. Gratitude reduces anxiety and substance abuse disorders, and is a key resiliency factor in the prevention of suicide. It blocks toxic emotions, such as envy, resentment, regret and depression. Research by Prof. Emmons shows the following benefits of regular gratitude practice and journaling:

  Physical
• Stronger immune system
• Lower blood pressure
• Less bothered by pains & aches
• Exercise more & take better care of health

  Psychological
• Higher levels of positive emotions
• More alert, alive, and awake
• More joy and pleasure
• More optimism and happiness

  Social
• More helpful & compassionate
• More forgiving
• More outgoing
• Feel less lonely and isolated

Research shows that children who practice grateful thinking have positive emotions, physical well being, feel more connected and satisfied with school and life in general. Furthermore, the practice of gratitude replaces greed with Sharing, oppression with Respect for others and violence with Peace.
